Musician Cerys Matthews is one of the founders of The Good Life Experience Festival in Hawarden, Flintshire, on September 18 to 20.
Bringing together music, food, literature, and life in the great outdoors, the event takes place at the Hawarden Estate.
There will be cookery demonstrations from cooks Valentine Warner, Thomasina Miers and baker Vicky North, alongside camp fire cookery from rabbit skinning to pigeon plucking and “carbecue”. Butchers from the Hawarden Estate will also be giving demonstrations.
Roger Phillips will talk about foraging, a chef’s discussion will be held on the Saturday, and events like talks on wild swimming, a vintage bike ride, and poetry discussions. Naturalists like Mark Cocker will be giving talks, and TV’s Ben Fogle will be on the bill.
The musical line-up includes Wilko Johnson, DJ78, Big Boss Man, and Remi Harris.
The event was founded by former Catatonia frontwoman Cerys Matthews and Charlie and Caroline Gladstone.
This year’s festival will see a dining and drinking tent named after the Grand Old Man of Politics and Hawarden resident William Gladstone. This bar and dining room will include lots of memorabilia connected to William Gladstone, including some of his letters, axes and photographs all alongside a bar stocked with some of the finest local ales.
